چکیده

Tibetan Plateau is a typical study area of global environment change, and lake is an important ecological factor to reveal ecoenvironment evolution. Thus, monitoring the succession law of lakes on Tibetan Plateau is of great significance to global environment change research. Because of the harsh environment and low accessibility of the plateau, most of the existing methods are always time-consuming but with low efficiency. This paper presents a combined method based on remote sensing technology that contains both the high-precise extraction of modern lake and paleo shoreline, which uses multi-level spatial scale transformation mechanism of “whole-local” to achieve gradually approach of modern lakes’ optimal edges by setting up an iterative algorithm based on the computation of NDWI first, and then detects and recovers paleo shorelines by judging the elevation difference using fusion data of LANDSAT ETM+ image and SRTM. By comparing the extent of modern lake and paleo shoreline, result of lake shrinkage can be discovered clearly and in time.

Spatiotemporal Variations of Lake Surface Temperature across the Tibetan Plateau Using MODIS LST Product

Satellite remote sensing provides a powerful tool for assessing lake water surface temperature (LWST) variations, particularly for large water bodies that reside in remote areas. In this study, the MODIS land surface temperature (LST) product level 3 (MOD11A2) was used to investigate the spatiotemporal variation of LWST for 56 large lakes across the Tibetan Plateau and examine the factors affec...

International Workshop on Terrestrial Water Cycle Observation and Modeling from Space: Innovation and Reliability of Data Products Determining geometric links between glaciers and lakes on the Tibetan plateau

The Tibetan plateau and surrounding mountain ranges contain the largest amount of ice outside the polar region. The Tibetan plateau also contains more than one thousand lakes and is the origin of a large part of the water resources of South and East Asia, the most densely populated regions on earth. Recent studies concluded that the glacial area on the Tibetan plateau and surroundings has decre...

Information Extraction and Change Analysis of Major Lakes in Tibetan Plateau Based on Landsat Remote Sensing Images

The water resources of Tibetan plateau, particularly the lakes, has been influenced by global climate change and also reacted to global change. It is important to study the lake changes in the Tibetan plateau. This paper aimed to analyse the changes detected from remote sensing images for the typical lakes in Tibetan Plateau, including Qinghai Lake, Nam Co and Selin Co, using different informat...

Geometric dependency of Tibetan lakes on glacial runoff

The Tibetan Plateau is an essential source of water for Southeast Asia. The runoff from its∼ 34 000 glaciers, which occupy an area of ∼ 50 000 km2, feeds Tibetan lakes and major Asian rivers like the Indus and Brahmaputra. Reported glacial shrinkage likely has an impact on the runoff. Unfortunately, accurate quantification of glacial changes is difficult over the high-relief Tibetan Plateau. Ho...

The Response of Lake Variations to Climate Change in Tibetan Plateau in Last 40 Years

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the largest lake area in China, with a total area of existing lakes of 36,900 km2, accounting for 49.5% of the total lake area of China The expansion and shrinkage of lakes in the Tibetan Plateau play critical roles in the water cycle and ecological and environment systems of the Plateau. In this paper, bases on the topographic map in 1970s, and the MASS and TM/ETM ...
